Harmony High’s FFA Meat Judging Team Named State Champions

HHS Meat Judging Team PhotoHarmony High’s FFA Meat Judging team has been named State Champions for its outstanding performance at the 2017 State 4-H/FFA Meats Judging Contest held in April. The team, which consisted of Corbin Fornes, Alexei Mattson, and Cindal White, was involved in contests to identify 40 different retail cuts of beef, pork, and lamb, placing 8 beef carcass, pork carcass, and primal classes, yield and quality grading beef carcasses, and a team activity involving a meat formulation problem.
 
The students will be representing Osceola County and Florida in Indiana at the national competition in the fall. The Meat Judging Career Development Event is designed to allow students to develop the skills needed for careers in the meat animal industry.
