Principal’s Message

Principal Joyce Graham brings over 12 years of educational leadership and a passion for student success, driving excellence and innovation throughout our school.

Our Principal

Dear Ventura Families,

Ventura Elementary Celebrates Growth and Looks Ahead

Preliminary data indicates that our greatest growth from last year to this year is in Math Proficiency, Math Learning Gains, and Math Lowest Quartile Learning Gains. We are incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication demonstrated by our students, staff, and families throughout the school year.

Our success has been driven by several key practices, including providing explicit instruction that clearly models learning expectations, delivering targeted skill practice during intervention time, empowering students to track their data and take ownership of their learning, and ensuring teachers consistently analyze data and adjust instruction based on student needs. Most importantly, we have continued to foster a positive school culture built on strong relationships, high expectations, and a belief that every child can succeed. As we look ahead to the 2026-2027 school year, our theme is:

Stronger Every Day, Working for That A!

This theme reminds us that growth happens one step at a time. Together, we will continue building a growth mindset by encouraging students to give their very best effort, even when learning is challenging. We will continue helping students track their progress and goals and engage them in meaningful, structured conversations that deepen their thinking and strengthen their learning.

Parents, your partnership makes a tremendous difference. This summer, we encourage you to support your child by:

  • Reading together every day
  • Encouraging your child to write about topics they enjoy, such as their favorite summer activities, vacations, or family memories
  • Practicing basic math facts regularly

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We are excited to continue growing together and becoming Stronger Every Day, Working for That A!

Proud Principal,

Joyce Graham
